I do not know whether the matter has been solved; but it is sad to read the letter, that a historical residential house with more than 100 years old was demolished by the town council in 1969, without knowledge by the owner. In 1977, the land was returned to the owners, but it is now an old government office building , different from the heritage building of more than 100 years. The current building need urgently for repair, surrounded by new modern high rising apartments. The owners asked for the government

1977 - PRC began implementing a series of political and economic reforms advocated by Deng Xiaoping that eventually formed the foundation for mainland China's rapid economic development starting in the 1990s.
The letter was submitted to the town council in 2007; but it is still in the website of the town council with red mark, which indicated not attended for long time. I think the official cannot do anything as the event happen during cultural revolution, and more than 30 years ago....it is a pity.
It is sad that they are from the Xiao family. Heyuan Xiao(河源萧氏), not 肖氏....

尊敬的河源市人民政府信访局领导:
你们好!
我们是广东省河源市紫金县城镇原著民肖氏三兄弟——肖炳森(已故)、肖炳松、肖炳钦。我们三户人家现居住于紫金县城镇龙腾街13号,之前 属于紫金县革命委员会招待所。据老一辈述说,该旧址为规模浩大、历史悠久的文革以前还有一定名望的祖屋——“肖屋”,前后共有五代人居住于此,历时一百多 年,为典型的清朝客家民居。1969年由于当时的紫金县革命委员会要建造政府招待所的需要,紫金县革命委员会遂将我们世代居住的祖屋“肖屋”无条件征收并 擅自全部拆除,于是,规模浩大、历史悠久、价值不菲的“肖屋”从此荡然无存,所拆除的石狮、青砖、青石条、桁木、梁柱等文物价值巨大的原屋物件也被肆意糟 蹋、随意破坏!取而代之的为简陋的紫金县革命委员会政府招待所平房。而善良淳朴、忠厚老实的我们肖氏三兄弟便被紫金县革命委员会草率地驱赶到紫金县城镇龙 腾街15号 “两退一插”时李壬英处居住,该处阴暗、潮湿,我们也终日与蜈蚣为伴、与老鼠作伍,居住环境可谓恶劣,与之前宽敞舒适的环境根本不能相比!! 在如此恶劣的居住环境下我们忍气吞声、艰难困苦地渡过了将近十年!!1979年8月1日当时紫金县县城房管所通知,根据1977年紫金县革命委员会的32 号和62号文件相关精神,由于该住处房产归原业主李壬英回续,我们被勒令限时五天内迁移,无奈之下,无处容身的我们肖氏三兄弟,在征得相关部门的同意下,举家搬回原住祖屋旧址——当时已拆建成的紫金县革命委员会政府招待所平房。
掐指算来,我们肖氏三兄弟搬回紫金县革命委员会政府招待所平房(即现住地)至今已长达近30年之久,此间,政府多次勒令收回住房,试图 再次驱赶我们肖氏三兄弟,但是假如我们再次让步的话,势必无处容身、无处憩息,拖儿带女地要流浪街头,于是我们据理力争坚守“阵地”,粮草不动的呆着。由 于我们的家境贫寒、由于我们的文化低下、由于我们的善良老实、由于我们的“孤立无援”, 我们肖氏三兄弟虽几次多番写信向历届紫金县县委县政府上访,反映 我们的实际居住情况和有关房产问题,历届紫金县县委县政府基本上采取不理不睬,不于答复的态度,而能够平等对待我们这个肖氏三兄弟信访老户的有据可查的有两次:一是1986年6月18号的紫金县建委房管组正面通知开会讨论;一是1995年根据紫金县县府常务会议9号文件责成法制局商讨方案。但是都因为政府部门欺压、苛刻的态势和不作为作风导致最终告吹。
随着时间的消逝,我们肖氏三兄弟现住房屋历经风霜已经变得破旧不堪,瓦砾残缺、天花蛀损、墙皮剥落、门板破落、地砖凹凸、阴暗潮湿、空 气污浊,多处墙壁也已出现较大裂缝,重回与蜈蚣为伴、与老鼠作伍的生活环境,整天过着一种提心吊胆的生活,特别是刮风下雨时侯,简直是身处房屋时刻坍塌、 家人分秒丧命的恐惧之中。环顾四周,旁边的除了极少的一两座人去楼空的古屋,可谓高楼耸立,而身处21世纪新时代的我们肖氏三兄弟依然老老少少深居如此旧 社会都不如的住所,简直是此是天堂、彼为地狱也!两相比较,除了心酸、就是心寒、更是心惧!而最令人气愤的正是——前两年,紫金县县政府部门整体搬迁到现 在的紫金县委县政府办公中心,自此,我们这里更成了“都不管”地带!向政府部门上访都无济于事,遑论向居委会反映居住情况!而且,更滑稽的是我们的住所还 被有关部门定为“危房”!试问,在紫金县相关领导眼中还有我们老百姓的性命么?试问,在如此危险的环境生活,我们还能存活多久呢?试问,造成今天如此境况 的始作俑者是谁?我们觉得,河源市人民政府上级领导看到这封报告后应该明了。
叫天天不应、叫地地不灵的我们肖氏三兄弟已对历届紫金县县委县政府几近失望。虽近30年以来受尽威吓、历尽艰辛,上访之路如此艰难,但 是我们依然“屡败屡战”,并且还是相信“青天在上”的!所以,我们这次采取了越级上访的途径。我们坚信,构建和谐社会是当下政府的终极目标,我们肖氏三兄 弟房产历史遗留问题肯定能够尽早得到解决,政府肯定能够给予我们一个良好的生存住所!
但愿和谐社会能够有更和谐的音调!

Siow Lee Chin
Siow Lee Chin, is a renowned Singaporean violinist. She is an assistant professor and the Director of Strings at the College of Charleston. Siow is the Gold Medal winner of the 1994 Henryk Szeryng International Violin Competition and First Prize winner of the 1994 Louise D. McMahon International Music Competition for Strings.In 1996, Siow won the Singapore National Arts Council's Young Artist Award.
She is the proud daughter of Mr Siow Hee Shun, she wrote about her Dad during the Father's Day, which was appeared in Pg 16,of the World edition 20-23 2009. You may read it from her web site.

Passionate and committed to teaching, Lee Chin has served on the faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory, given masterclasses and outreach programs all over the world including the National University of Singapore, the Lisbon Academy of Music, the Chicago Institute of Music, the University of Maryland, Ohio University and Spoleto Study Abroad (Italy), among many others. Currently, Lee Chin is the Director of Strings and Professor of Violin at the College of Charleston, South Carolina and co-founder and artistic co-director of the Charleston Music Fest. Her private students have won the South Carolina Music Teachers State competitions and soloed with the Charleston Symphony.
Lee Chin began her violin studies under her father, Siow Hee Shun. An alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Mannes College of Music, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, her teachers included Roland and Almita Vamos, Felix Galimir, Jascha Brodsky and Aaron Rosand.
